Valentina Mariano has lived a normal life for all of her 20 years but 2 weeks before her 21st birthday, her father is shot and killed in some business scandal. She is then sent to live with the Romano family. Another family involved with her father's 'business'. However, Mr. Romano has a 24 year old son who is rather good looking but seems to dislike Valentina.

Giovanni Romano is the son of the most powerful Mafia man in the business and has been assigned by his father to make sure his new housemate guest is protected from whatever harm might come her way. At first she seems to annoy Gio, but she soon starts growing on him as they get closer.
