The world as we knew it came crashing down with the outbreak of a deadly virus that caused the dead to rise and seek out human flesh. Amidst the chaos, Rick Grimes was presumed dead, and his wife and son were forced to flee the city to stay alive. Accompanying them was Lori's closest friend, who took on the responsibility of caring for her friend's son alongside her in the absence of his father. When Rick unexpectedly returned, the friend showed immense relief, even more so than his wife. As they struggled to survive in a world overrun by the undead, they found solace in each other's company. They slowly began to develop a deep emotional bond, having shared numerous losses, one of which pushed them closer together than all the others.
