Commander Caius Atelinas is many things: angel, demon, soldier, saint, and above all, an Ultramarine. A distinguished veteran of uncounted battles, his squad is often sent on some of the most dangerous missions to defend the Imperium of Man from the enemies of Mankind no matter where they show their faces. When he is sent on a mission to retrieve a stranded Tech-Priest on an isolated world at the edge of Imperium Space, he finds himself confronted with something much more dangerous than a downed space craft.

Soon confronted by agents of Chaos, an Orkish invasion, and a squad of Aeldari all seeking the Tech-Priest or the ruination of the planet, Caius and his squad find themselves at the forefront of a fight that will put their skills to the test and sets Caius on the collision course with an unexpected ally - Farseer Naudan Bahad of Craftworld Ulthwé, his long-time rival and one-time ally, who has come to the planet seeking out a familiar foe and a mystery that they both believe had faded into the shadows.

Across the stars, Bahad is called before the Council of Farseers of his Craftworld and desperately pleads his case for his alliance with Caius and his hunt for Hepharion. He is the one who united the sisters as one and treat each other as equals and family. In turn they treat him as their own little brother. But soon it changes when the Empress suddenly declared Carlos to be banished from the Imperium for eternity for reasons were unknown. Outrage by the Empress declaration, the Primarchs demanded reasons but Brother Carlos accepted it in which caused the Primarchs to be bitter. There he was escorted out of the Imperium by the Adeptus Custodes before giving a last fare well to the Primarchs. However all turns to worst as he was assaulted by warp spawns from the immaterium, heavily injured and battered armour he makes a last stand against the demonic beings until he found himself in a different universe, will Carlos able to return one day to the Imperium or travel through the multiverse seeking adventure and friends along the way.
