'"How are you?" Kasey said into his phone. He spun a spoon around in his tomato soup; since she always cooked, he'd planned to make dinner before Olivia got home. "What are you doing?"

"Working," Olivia answered. She used her shoulder to hold up her phone as she poured coffee into a cup.

"You know this."

She poured in the hot milk. Then the sugar... She didn't know how much she had put in, lost in her thoughts.

God, Kasey was always so clingy with her. He had to know everything; what she was doing; where she was; who she was with. He acted like her guardian.

Sure, it was sweet of him to care that much, but sometimes it irritated her...

"I have to hang up now. Another customer walked in." She said, glancing up toward the little jingle when the door opened and shut. She slapped the lid onto the coffee she was working on. Some of the hot coffee spilled onto her hand causing her to mutter out a curse.

A smile immediately came on her face as the customer waved to her-she had to keep a nice face in front of these customers. She had to keep this job.

Kasey stayed quiet, and Olivia wondered if he'd left the phone sitting somewhere. Just as she was about to hang up, his voice finally came through.

"Okay," he said, "Call me later?"

"Sure." She said, then quickly hung up to give the previous customer their coffee.

She decided not to call him back.
