Hank Voight is the head of an intelligence unit based in Chicago. He lost his wife 10 years ago to cancer, and never moved on. He threw himself so deep into the job, he made sure he never had time to look at anyone longer than a few seconds.
Kya Fox is a 27-year-old ex-intelligence Marine who lost her husband during an ambush on their base in Afghanistan two years ago. She had her one-night stands, but could never get attached to anyone if she tried.
When Hank meets the mysterious Kya, he looks into her, only intrigued. He notes her extensive experience with the Marine Corps, and quickly offers her a spot on his team.
