It does get better.
People say it will get better. But to be fair, most of them never were in your place. They say you will get happy again, but how can they know? I've struggled with trauma, mental illnesses, and self harm for many years. These are (mostly) poems - about me and my journey of getting better. ! As this is about self harm and other previously mentioned topics, it might be triggering. I don't glorify it in any way, though. I'm also not a native English speaker. If you find any mistakes, please tell me so I can improve.
Where Dreams Lay

One minute you could be so sure everything is okay . . but then the next you could wind up watching someone you love die. Her story starts off slow, but takes a flip to a whole other journey. Hope
Kate was used to dealing with unfair consequences. Having a less than ideal home life and no one else to support her, she had learned to deal with things on her own. She had learned not to feel and especially not to hope. So when someone new comes into her life Kate does the best thing she can think of, she shuts them out. But, after a series of events in the course of one day, they are thrown back together, and Kate is given the chance to explain herself. Explain why she was so guarded and why she had closed herself off in the first place. And maybe along the way Kate learns that things aren't always so bad. That feeling and hoping aren't the worst things in the world. ***Warning: Mention of abuse is included in this story. Please don't read if that is a trigger for you in any way. No matter how much you treasured your friendship, no matter how much you told yourself it didn't hurt, the truth lingered like a cruel whisper: he never saw you. But you refuse to fade into the shadows any longer. Desperation turns to determination, and soon, you're willing to do whatever it takes to make him notice you-even if it means crossing lines you swore you never would. Even if it means losing the people who truly care about you. Because love isn't always patient. And sometimes, obsession is just another word for devotion.
