"It's okay, love. I won't hurt you," Raj tried to reassure me, his voice soft, but I couldn't believe him. I shakily stood up, trying to put more distance between us.
"Please, Lavanya, relax. You're not well," he said, stepping forward again, but I cried harder, the fear choking me.
"Don't come near me, you monster!" I screamed, clutching a knife I grabbed from the fruit bowl, my hands shaking uncontrollably.
Raj froze, his face a mix of heartbreak and desperation. "Please, love, calm down," he begged, his voice breaking. The door burst open, and Riya, Varun, Naman, and Dev rushed into the room.
"Please, help me!" I screamed at them, feeling trapped.
"Lavanya, it's us. We're not a threat," Riya said softly, trying to approach me, but her words didn't register. They were all monsters in my eyes.
"If you come near me, I'll kill myself!" I threatened, the knife shaking in my hand.
Raj's eyes widened in fear. "Okay, okay! Just put the knife down, love. Please, just put it down," he pleaded, signaling the others to back off.
Tears blurred my vision as I sobbed. "I want to go home. Please, let me go," I begged, feeling utterly broken.

"When will you accept me?'' Lucian murmured against my skin. The wonderful feeling only grew as he stepped closer, the thick muscles between our layers of clothing pressing against my back. He dipped his head. I could feel his lips against my ear when he spoke. "When, Victoria? I am tired of fighting with you. I know you want me just as much as I want you. Admit it."
I couldn't.
"Admit it, Victoria!'' Lucian's voice went deep when he raised it. Goosebumps prickled my entire body as he whirled me around so that we were face-to-face. I exhaled softly, hating the dominant position he had over me. Lucian wretched my chin up. His eyes were burning with a lustful smolder.
"No." Oh, I would definitely get myself killed tonight. I knew my defiance was angering him further but saying I wanted Lucian would mean I was accepting defeat. And I didn't do that.
Love was a game and I was determined to win it.
