They were an aspiring wordsmith with a minor in sociology, they wanted no part in the hero vs villain business. Unfortunately, with a quirk as powerful as theirs they've had to lay low, never using it to its full potential to avoid being all but drafted into the game of good and evil.
And it worked... for a while.

But when circumstances forces their hand and the past catches up to them, they find themselves rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in Japan in a sort of Quirk protection/hero training program to keep theirs from falling into the wrong hands.

"I don't care how "powerful" or "useful" my quirk is, I'm a writer first and a writer always."

"That's awfully selfish of you."

"As selfish as forcing someone into a never ending war without consent?"
