Hot shot is a playful and active 5 year old. He lives with his dad Heatwave and mom Quickshadow. His father Heatwave is a firefighter, his mother Quickshadow is a stay at home mom. They all live in Fort Worth Texas. Hot shot loves to run, jump, climb and play. Hot shot wants to be a firefighter or a baseball player or a zookeeper who works with rhinos or something else. Hot shot is full of dreams and hopes. Hot shot is a very healthy child too. However in early May Hot shot starts to feel unwell. Hot shot is tired all the time, he is has a fever, he is pale, he is bruising easily, and his bruised don't seem to be healing. His parents are worried and take him to his pediatrician. The doctor sends them to Cook Children's to see a special doctor. There the doctor has all kinds of tests done on Hot shot. Hot shot is then diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL a type of blood cancer. Hot shot is brave and ready to face his cancer head on. Hot shot makes friends with four other kids his age with the same type of cancer. They decide to fight their cancer together and become the best of friends.
