Smart yet stubborn lawyer James Hathaway is assigned the case of Dean Morrison, a man who was accused of killing his wife. The case is already hard enough to defend, but James then finds that Dean has been diagnosed with DID, with exaggerated personalities such as himself, a tidy, arrogant snob, a man who barely remembers anything about his life, and a violent, aggressive maniac. And, after James resigns from the case due to concerns about his safety, Dean is becoming increasingly volatile and unhinged every minute, and James has to maintain his integrity while having to deal with personal troubles that Dean seeps his way into, turning their lives into a game of cat and mouse after Dean snaps into his most violent and aggressive personality. And once James quits the case, James realizes that his life is in grave danger.

But as the case continues to expand, Jeff finds out that Sarah isn't who she really is. Once the trial begins, Jeff decides to do more research on the case besides just him prosecuting the case against Sarah Evans and Jeff finds out that Sarah is a part of this cult and her leader forces his followers into getting married and then having an affair a few years later and having his followers like Sarah kill their spouse if they file for a divorce and lose custody of their own children. But as Jeff digs into the case, he later finds out who the actual cult leader is and why they'd forced Sarah into getting married and having an affair before murdering Mr. Nolan Evans. But will Jeff go easy on Sarah after the fact why Nolan Evans was murdered, or will Nolan Evans and his family receive justice.
