After Sumé lost her parents in different ways, she has been going through tough times and getting bullied at every opportunity. However, she finds some strength in her friends Hana and Kayla. As the darkness keeps calling to her, she finds herself skipping school the next day and heading deep into the woods, seeking anything or anyone to take her away from this cruel world. In the middle of the woods, near a pond, stands a bright red pearl shining proudly. Thinking she could earn lots of money and provide for her and her brother, she picks up the pearl, only to black out the moment it touches her. Slowly, she awakens to see a girl, perhaps the same age as her, facing her with her back turned. Sumé groans as the pain of hitting the floor comes to her. The girl turns around, and Sumé gasps as the girl, strangely familiar yet unfamiliar, looks exactly like her, albeit slightly different, with bright red hair and a long white dress too big for her. "Get up, Sumé. The world is in danger."
