"Hey! Could you hold the door!?" someone calls out. Startled by the sudden voice, Augustine presses the door open button.

He doesn't look over as his classmate enters, staring at the buttons on the elevator wall. It isn't like it would matter for much longer anyways. In a few hours the graduation ceremony would be over, and then he'd never see this guy again.

"Thanks, you wouldn't believe the-" the voice trails off. "Auggie?"

Augustine feels his blood turn to ice. He turns his head slowly and finds wide blue eyes staring back at him.

"...Winnie."

~~

Augustine and Winnie have always been together their whole childhood. Ever since they were six years old, they've stayed side by side, inseparable from each other.

Now, they're on the way to their high school graduation ceremony, when they find themselves stuck in the elevator.

A reimagining of Elevator Hitch, Augustine and Winnie will have to figure out more than just how to get to their ceremony-they'll have to figure out their feelings, too.

"I knew if I wanted a relationship, I should find someone else. But I didn't want anyone else and I still don't." I managed to take his arm from around my waist without waking him up. Sighing with relief I was about to move closer to the edge of the bed but he grabbed me again, muttering something in his half asleep state. I tried to release his grip again but he woke up, grinning as soon as he seen me. His sleepy blue eyes looked at me. "Where are you going?" his grin widened. "I have to go." I whispered quietly, looking around the room. I really did have to go, I was supposed to be staying away from him wasn't I? The sun hadn't come up yet, it was still in the early hours of the morning. "Don't go." He groaned, pulling me in closer and squeezed my waist. I could sense his smile as he kissed my forehead. I didn't know what to do, his arms were more than inviting and I really didn't need a lot of convincing but I was starting to get tired of this secret thing again. Sure, Eric and I got along great, I really enjoyed his company but was it really worth lying to everyone about? *************** What happens when wallflower Florence and jock Eric decide to keep what's between them a secret? "I may not remember much, but I do know that I had the best time with you last night." Charlie drops his hand from his mouth and lifts his head to stare into my eyes, pushing his hair back from his face at the same time. "And I know this is awkward now, because I'm pretty sure we were both naked together in bed last night..." I choke on air, trying to dispel the imaginary object from my throat. Charlie reaches out and lightly grasps my hand; my eyes slide from our interlocked fingers to his shining pupils. "...but I still wouldn't change a single thing about it. So, I really do look forward to hearing from you later, Kaiydeen." It's like I've been taken hostage by his electric stare. I don't want to look away. I never want to look away. The busy noises of the street and the honking of the traffic fade as I lose focus, nothing strong enough to force my attention away from this boy. Finally, Archer loudly clears his throat as he flings his door open and plops into the car with a huff, breaking the trance between the two of us. I look away as I withdraw my hand from his grasp, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. This is going to be a long 6 months. ●●● Kaiydeen has always known what she wanted, more like who, but she never knew exactly how to get it. So she's complacent with biding her time until it, actually he, comes to her; no matter how long that takes. But then one day she crashes into someone she doesn't expect. Someone that has always had an eye for her, and he isn't satisfied with biding his time until she's his. But when the one person she's always wanted admits he wants her, too, she's forced to make a choice. Should she go for the boy she just met or the boy she's always known? There is some use of mature language in this story, so if your eyes are innocent and you want them to stay that way this might not be the story for you. Credit to @slueths for the incredible cover!!
