Pride Over Matter (I Have My Pride 2)

Just as he took the Shonen manga world by storm, Kitsuki Mirukumi's star is rapidly rising in the Yaoi manga world as Kii Miki, with his debut series Helix Tribe. Helping him every step of the way are his faithful assistants, but most especially his editor Shido. Having given up his own aspirations of being a mangaka years ago, Shido now works tirelessly as an editor to make other artists a success. But never has he worked so hard as he has for Kitsuki...nor has he wanted someone to succeed so much. As Helix's Tribe popularity grows, Kitsuki and Shido have become closer as colleagues and trusted friends. But as time has passed, underneath the surface the feelings between them have evolved. Evolved beyond the point of professionalism.

Just as the pair start to grapple with their changing dynamic, a new assignment is dropped by their publisher, Massao. For Golden Week there will be a special issue with a specific theme. A theme atypical of the Yaoi genre, but a theme that Kitsuki himself is not familiar with...or comfortable with. Not knowing how to navigate the theme, Kitsuki decides to create a one-shot story based on a real-life event, as told by the person who experienced it. But while he only seeks to be respectful of the theme, his proves to be so controversial that it may very well end up destroying his career.

In the face of adversity, Shido must decide if he will stand by his artist with the story he decided to tell. Or if he will crush the person he has come to love.

Pride Over Matter, the second story in I Have My Pride series, continues to follow Kitsuki as he establishes himself in the Yaoi genre and grapples with feelings of love he has never felt before.
