B.) To keep the distance she's maintained thoroughly from everyone around her.
C.) Let the random, popular, hot, volleyball star at her school she met by coincidence her out of her shell, and into something called...a community?

Celena Cabrera-Bello, in one word, is guarded. Even with her large family of 6 step-siblings, all from a different mother, it's easy for her to misplaced. Overlooked. As a girl who had grown up too fast, too soon, she was going to leave proudly with her 4.9 GPA and saved up earnings from the nearby ice-cream shop. To her, every word, every step, every action, was all carefully planned as Celena's one way ticket out of Hell. Her home.

Kamran Miller, in one word, is sheltered. Santa Clara's resident golden retriever has always been able to filter through life without any prudence for the future, so why shouldn't it work now? It's only once his coach kicks him off the school's volleyball team, due to his lacking grades, the pressure of college admissions hit Kamran. And they hit hard.
