Dr. James McInnis has accumulated an impressive array of certifications and licenses over the course of his career, including the MCC (Medical Council of Canada Licensure), a commission as a Sub-Lieutenant with service number D66 403 377, CCFP (Certification by the Canadian College of Family Physicians), and a promotion to Lieutenant (N) in the Royal Canadian Navy.

Throughout his journey, he has been honored for his achievements, such as receiving the Prince Edward Island Top Medical Student Scholarship, the Burke Certificate for Promise in Family Medicine, his role as a Research Assistant investigating Prolia's impact on Osteoporosis, a Special Citation for Meritorious Service in the Canadian Armed Forces, presenting a CME Research Presentation on "Physicians in the Military," and receiving an Honorable Discharge from active duty.

He has held various academic positions, including serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Laboratory Studies at Dalhousie University, Senior Post Graduate Clinical Instructor at McMaster University, and Senior Professor and Evaluator at the Canadian Forces School of Physician Assistants in CFB Borden, Ontario.

His nine-year tenure as a Lieutenant (N) in the Canadian Armed Forces saw him in many roles, from providing medical care to soldiers at home and on deployment to serving as a Disaster Assistance Response Team (D.A.R.T) member during Operation PLATEAU. Additionally, he contributed as a consultant in bio-terrorism medicine, acted as a special consultant and liaison between the Canadian Forces and the Canadian Medical Association, and served as a clinical instructor and liaison officer for the Canadian Armed Forces Physician Assistant Program.
