A sentient stone golem named Atalis is destroyed by his old master, the Scourge of the Land, Gryphon, for the treasonous act of questioning her authority. In the altercation, Atalis was broken apart and blasted into the nearby river, which carried him downstream for about 30 miles. Upon coming to rest, he was left to die, being eroded by the flowing water of the river which would be his tomb. That is, if luck had not been on his side - Aiden Grant, a stone mason, noticed a wrecked human sculpture sitting in the river behind his house. Upon putting the statue back together, he was astonished to find that it was alive. Atalis thanked his savior by working in his service until he felt his debt had been paid back, before beginning his inevitable quest for revenge against Gryphon.Ata
