Homemade Ghosts | severus snape

Hazel is being haunted.

Not by Hogwarts ghosts or Peeves the Poltergeist, but by decade-old memories that infest every corner of the castle. Some good, others she'd rather forget. But one memory, a most bittersweet kind, dwells on the face of her nephew.

Apart from having his mother's eyes, Harry Potter is the spitting image of Hazel's dead brother. Unfortunately, he's also inherited James's uncanny ability to get into - and away with - mischief. Hazel thought the top priority would be keeping him safe, but Hogwarts staff seem to largely turn a blind eye when they catch Harry sniffing around for trouble.

Hazel feels forsaken until she finds an exceptionally unlikely ally in her brother's former archenemy. Despite seemingly hating the kid, Severus Snape is the only other adult at Hogwarts who appears to be making any active effort to stop Harry from getting himself killed. Hazel is willing to set aside old grudges and combine forces with him, but Severus can't seem to see past the ghost of James in not just Harry, but in Hazel too.
