I never believed it would end like this. I was just watching Netflix when the power went out, then before I knew it everyone was screaming, then the school began to shake and fell to the ground. Only three kids in my entire school were spared, four if you count me. I found a group of people heading to the east coast for a boat trip to a supposed safe haven in India. They died of disease days later. I found their bodies by the river. But I guess this is my life now, surviving with a scared boy, a pair of twins and trying to make it to the next day. The year was 2157 when Earth crumbled and governments fell. Most living things died and their was a silence on earth that was deafening. The first particles of disease fell in North America in the Spring of 2157 and began to scatter and mutate into virus and bacteria. Bombs sailed through cities leveling Government buildings, business and residential. Historians call this period Decay. Ricin poisoning and nerve gases were released. Citizens began to fall ill and die quickly. Later historians found out that a few middle east countries, China and Russia poisoned all food with Ricin. The food was then shipped to US, Canada, UK, many European countries. This period is only known as "Decay' Some humans survived. Either from paranoia or luck, so the stories go. The paranoid ones were waiting for the first signs of a fallout and when it began they hid in their underground 'storage containers'. These were completely sealed once someone closed the door. The doors were automated and within 2 to 5 years depending on the setting chosen the doors would automatically open. The history of the 'lucky ones' is that they knew someone who had a container and welcomed them, or they hid in the container until the family that owned it got in and sealed the door. And hope they would not be killed for trespassing. Now it is 2243. The world has drastically changed. In this world the 'Owners' and 'Potentials' rule the 'communities'. Guards police, keeping communities separated. The Powers rule over what was once called North America now simply called East Nation North (ENN). Superiors handle their community they are assigned to. Under the Powers, Superiors, Water Protectors, Guards, owners and potentials come the animal breeders next on the hierarchy. Then the last three levels don't really matter to anyone. Those are the baby breeders, slaves and throwaways. They have no say in anything.

They said that "Changing is part of LIFE.", at least that's what the CSD (Change and Save Department) used to say. They thought they created a "cure". A cure to save many people's lives from sickness, cancer, and all. Unfortunately... They were wrong. It was fine at first... However, their first test subject? It was for no good. Instead of a cure, they made a "virus". The virus is incurable for now. Many people protested against the CSD and the government. It changed.. but it was never saved... They said that once they bit you, in an hour the virus will spread throughout your body and kill you, then you'll be alive but not like you used to be. There are many survivors, but there are also many who have been turned into monsters. They call these monsters, "zombies". The CSD promised that they'll find a cure, but much-lost hope, lost hope for being alive, lost hope for survival. A 17 yrs. the old girl was in between that. Everything might sound and look horrible but she never lost hope for survival. "I'm running out of food.." she kept on talking to herself since there was no one but her. She saw a grocery store nearby so she checked it out if there were food, and fortunately, there was. She stuffed the food in her bag until she heard something. "Is someone there?" She asked, she hoped it wasn't what she thought about but there it was. The zombie's legs were twisted so it will have a hard time catching her. However, she never encountered that close. She stuffed the last food in her bag and ran. She ran to the girl's restroom. When she opened the door there were zombies! It almost caught her but fortunately, nothing happened to her. She ran back but there were more! "Please don't say this is how I'm going to die!" She said to herself. Is she going to die? Who will she meet? Will they survive this cruel world??
