Ms. Ruhani, a 28-year-old resident of Gurgaon, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a coveted position within the top five of the highly competitive Civil Services Examination (CSE) administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This accomplishment signifies the culmination of her steadfast pursuit of a career as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Despite her commendable service as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Ms. Ruhani harbored a strong desire to transition into the prestigious IAS cadre. Over a sustained period, she meticulously strived towards this objective, encountering numerous challenges along the way. Undeterred by narrowly missing the cut-off marks in prior attempts, Ms. Ruhani demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance.

Who is Ruhani
Ruhani born and brought up in Gurugram is the first member of her family to venture into this field. Ruhani's parents, Suresh Sharma and Neelam, are both government school teachers.
Ruhani completed her 12th standard from Gurugram and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University. She further obtained a Master's degree in Economics from IGNOU.
Prior to her UPSC success, Ruhani had already cracked the UPSC exam twice. In 2019, she cleared the civil service exam and joined the Indian Economic Service (IES), where she worked for three years. She was also deployed at NITI Aayog for 2 years. Later, she joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) and was undergoing training in Hyderabad since November 2023.
