1951-Northern Italy.
After 19-year-old Ashley gets lost following a failed gondola ride in the mountains, things look grim. Lost in a snowstorm at dusk, Ashley is ready to give up when she is rescued by a mysterious figure: Eric Northman.

Snowed in and cut off from all civilization with the tall, muscular man with blonde hair, piercing blue eyes and a chin you could cut yourself with, something quickly becomes clear: Eric is not only irresistible... but also a vampire. Despite having (and hiding) her own secrets and having been told from a young age to never cross paths with a vampire because of her nature, she throws caution to the wind and gives in to the advances of the 1,000-year-old Viking, hoping she won't lose her heart. But that can't happen in just a few hours... can it?

Eric's eyes gleamed dangerously, and his vampire fangs sprang out, which dampend her brazenness.

"Oh Annie, darling." The sweater flew across the room before she even had a chance to take another breath - or reevaluate her words. "You must never say that to a man. Vampire or human. Man is man, and I-" Eric spun her around and practically threw her onto the sofa, then was over her again, this time without pants, his gaze blazing and hungry. "I am both."
