In this story Eggman has created something unexpected and made the ebony to change his life, hjis so happy to see the one he is close to is alive, so yes it is Maria Robotnik, but no one knows what eggman's true plan is.

this Sonic jealous after knowing that shadow started to distant towards the blue hedgehog because his best friend is alive, but he is happy to see him change but he actually hid his own feelings towards the ebony hedgehog, and only rouge knows this because shes the only person that is also close to Shadow, he also can't tell his own fox bestfriend about this because he is focused on finding out Robotniks plan including everyone.
