In "The Ebony Badges," U.S. Marshals Isaac Jackson and Sarah Freeman take up the mantle of frontier justice, stepping into the legendary boots of Steven and Kedrin, the famed "White Warriors." As the first Black marshals in the territory, Isaac and Sarah must contend not only with the lawlessness of the Wild West but also with the prejudices and distrust of those they have sworn to protect.
When a shadowy criminal syndicate known as the Obsidian League begins to spread its tentacles across the frontier, Isaac and Sarah find themselves embroiled in a mystery that threatens to unravel the very fabric of Western society. Led by the enigmatic and ruthless mastermind known as the Raven, the League engages in a campaign of counterfeit currency, stagecoach robberies, and cold-blooded murder, always staying one step ahead of the law.
As they delve deeper into the Obsidian League's web of corruption, Isaac and Sarah must navigate a treacherous landscape of saloon brawls, gunfights, and double-crosses, forging uneasy alliances with both lawmen and outlaws alike. From the seedy backrooms of The Whispering Saloon to the haunted canyons of Serpent's Gulch, they follow a trail of clues and corpses, uncovering a conspiracy that reaches to the highest echelons of power.
With the help of a colorful cast of characters, including a smooth-talking gambler, a fiery saloon singer, and a mysterious Apache scout, Isaac and Sarah must use all of their wits, skills, and courage to bring the Raven to justice and shatter the Obsidian League once and for all. But as they close in on their quarry, they discover that the true mastermind behind the League may be someone far closer to home than they ever imagined.

When his red stamp hit my card, I couldn't dare look. But those red letters attacked my eyes; Weak. ---------------------- This was the Alpha playing with his food. I could imagine how he would stalk to me, his head high with all his teeth showing. His pure white fur not being touched by the dust he had created when he chased after me. I can only imagine how every step for him would be a leap for me. That blood would hang from his mouth and drip onto the forest floor but not even faze his fangs. I was terrified of him. Even if I couldn't bring myself to mention it, to be weak and choose to submit. These thoughts kept me running, the invisible echo of a laugh that wasn't really there stayed in my ear, even though he was nowhere to be. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• He was terrifying, but yet, at he same time he was safe. WARNING: Cussing, Strong Violence and other Triggering Content may occur. Prologue Mercy ran down the narrow streets, moving her legs as fast as she could. Running from what? Well, she doesn't know. At least, not yet. The streetlamps began to flicker and a loud scream was heard from inside an alley. All she really knew at that moment was to run. Her town was being raided by these monsters on black horses.... they carried long black blades stained with blood and dark hoods covering their faces. They raced recklessly through the town on their dark mounts, slashing at anyone who stood in their way. Some of them even carried torches, using them to set houses and stores alight in flames. People ran everywhere, screaming and yelling for their lost family and friends. But Mercy continued running... she had to. Until she saw a little girl, no older than seven, sitting in front of a burning building, crying. Mercy slowed, then with hesitation, walked over to the girl, avoiding being seen by the raiding party. "Whats the matter with you? You need to get out of the open." She told her. "But- but i don't know where my mommy is." The little girl sobbed. Although Mercy had lost her mother when she was fourteen, she still remembers the feeling of helplessness. "Alright. Come on... Let's go try to find your mom." She sighed. A raider was drawing closer to them, so they had to hurry... and Mercy knew it. "Run." She whispered to the girl, who was oblivious to the approaching attacker.

The wolf whimpered from the claw mark I left him and growled at me. Then they all went quiet and looked behind them. I followed their gaze. That's when I seen him. The alpha of the pack in his intimidating wolf form. He growled at the other wolves, and they all left. The alpha shifted to his human form. and that's when I heard the one word come from him."MATE!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Iris Lace is the last of her kind.
