It's the 225th Travails, and this year Celestia culls their Tributes from the criminals of Meropide. Wriothesely finds himself face-to-face with death that is promised to come in fours, as well as a love doomed from the start. Wriothesley/Neuvillette.

This is rated Mature. There isn't anything explicit planned aside from death and violence. This is also a slow-burn-- a first for me!

Content Warnings for Major Character Death, Violence, Descriptions of Gore, Murder, Major Angst, etc etc. It's impossible to tag the full nature of everything, but if you know the source material, you'll know it isn't happy. It's a-okay to bow out of this one if you aren't into the idea of a rough ride.

This isn't really a spoiler since I've talked about it before, but Wriothesley wins. This isn't a secret because he's in the sequel (which I outlined/planned before this one, lmao). I just wanted to ensure that whilst it's not a purely happy ending, it is not an unhappy ending. You do not have to fear Wrio or Neuvillette getting murked.

Knowledge of The Hunger Games, Battle Royale, or any inspired media is UNNEEDED. This is LOOSELY inspired; I've borrowed the base framework of how the Hunger Games works, but aside from that, there is nothing particularly similar. This fic is designed to be enjoyed regardless of whether or not you are familiar with any of those franchises.

I'll definitely CW stuff before chapters, but I'll do my best to prevent outright spoilers.
