"And what am I doing to you, Amaya?" Hayes asks calmly and I ball my hands into fists, seething at his ignorance. "Well?"
"You're hurting me."
"I'm protecting you." He says, glancing back at the book.
"By pushing people away from me? By stopping me from doing what I want? When did that become your choice?"
"From the moment I stuck that ring on your finger and promised myself that I'll never let you be in that same position as you were last year." He snaps his book shut, and glares down at the Rolex enclosed on his wrist.
"So that's it? You'll just keep me under your control?"
"Darling, I'm just trying to protect you. Why can't you see that?" My Professor rises from his seat and runs his hands down his suit. "When we get married-"
"If we get married." The grey swirls snap to me like lightening and his jaw flexes. My heartbeat quickens and I make a turn towards the door, now desperately wanting to leave his office.
"If we get married?" He repeats, walking dangerously quick towards me as I try for the door. "If we get married?"
Slam!
His sudden closeness to me, the way I can feel his hot breath by my neck is enough to send me spiralling in both fear and excitement. Hayes spins me around and pushes me back against the door. He grabs my chin and forces me to look up at him, his gaze sending jolts to my lower stomach.
"When we get married." He utters, trailing his thumb along my bottom lip. "When we get married, my love. Say it to me."
"When we get married." I whisper weakly, my eyes glued to his face.
"Good." His lips curl upwards and my cheeks flush against my will. I wait for him to kiss me, I wait for him to tell me that he loves me. But instead he takes a step back, glancing down at his watch.
"Your class is about to start, Miss. Falke. I suggest you run."
