In a Kingdom where there are 13 clans but only one can rule, Visha finds herself unfortunate enough to be a member of the weakest one. But for the first time in fifty years, she has an opportunity to change that. She has an opportunity to make her clan powerful again.
And that opportunity comes in the form of the clan leader's son, Merikh. The first child in fifty years born to their leader and old enough to be sent to Verendus- a school for the children of all clan leaders.
As the only other nineteen year old in their clan with combat skills, Visha is offered a deal to attend Verendus with Merikh as his secret bodyguard.
