This is the sequel to Dragon Princess so if you haven't read that yet then read it before you read this one...

Shade is at war against himself and against time. Being brought back from the dead has a price, and his is costing him his humanity giving him limited time before the beast inside of him destroys him. What is worse is that his creator, Belladonna, has control over his will and if he doesn't either do everything she says or regain control one way or another the fire inside will consume him.

Aralia has taken a dark turn after she was forced to leave Shade in the rubble of her enemy's castle. Unknowing what's going on with Shade she too is at risk of losing her humanity in the destructive war that now rages in her lands.

Can the Queen learn to overcome her fears and become allied with Leila? Or is she doomed to remain a Dragon for eternity? Meanwhile, Ella is in a mess of her own. Abraxas knows things about what really happened when Niguidara's mother rescued her, and he's not pleased. She wants a way out, but refuses to leave without Trixell, who is her only living family. Can she break free from her past mistakes? Or is she doomed to be a slave forever?
