Gray

𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰u, and, terrifyingly, W𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, are questions Gray Tula never thought she'd have to ask herself. In a world of literal power filled humans, Gray has accepted her life will be everything but exciting, focusing on being accepted into secondary school to prepare for a cushy government job, until her life falls apart with a single sentence. ♠♠♠♠♠ Gray is an ordinary human girl living in the commons of Neris, one of eight planets in the Dark Empire ruled by a mysterious, powerful dictator. She is slated to take The Test shortly after her seventeenth birthday to determine where she fits in society, spending months learning the ins and outs of the Empire's history and government in order to fulfill her ordinary goal of being a productive citizen. Gray fails The Test on an unordinary order, throwing her into a downward spiral, her life loosing all meaning and purpose, straining her already distant relationship with her stressed, single mother. Just as her life is falling apart, she is the victim of an attempted kidnapping, the tall, blonde hair blue eyed offender later visiting her in her dreams, telling her nothing will stop him from finding her. To protect her and her mother, Gray decides to go to her distant friends for help in order to foil the kidnapper and bring him to justice. She quickly realizes she is dealing with something bigger than herself that may be hidden in her and her mother's mundane past. Gray is the first book in the realistic sci-fi series 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘦 that transcends self identity, family relationships, and power, bringing the reader into a unique, yet familiar world.
