BOOK 10.    There are two tales at the beginning. Zhao Yunlan is searching for a lost artefact  while Black Robe is searching for the same thing in a different world. One story is partly an illusion, while the other is very real and when they merge, life changes for both of them. As the story continues, it follows Yunlan's life as a negotiator for the police, and Shen Wei as a tutor and new host for Black Robe. They suffer pain, have injuries, experience love, and learn what it's like to live in the shadow of Black Robe.

There are one or two references to the last book, very small links. There is more physical violence in this book which was a challenge for me but fun. BOOK 1. This was the first book that I started to write in May 2023. I always liked the idea of the story. Shen Wei patrols at night looking for trouble to stop while he teaches by day and has health plus emotional problems because he's over taxing himself, so he visits Chu in the countryside. Yunlan is a spirit unable to help but can only watch until the opportunity comes along to change his situation. They also have to deal with kidnapping, burglary and it introduces Black Robes guards who are in every book that follows. This one was challenging to write but I enjoyed every minute, hope you like it as much as I did while writing. x

BOOK 8. Zhao Yunlan is a detective in a newly formed department dealing with strange crimes, but there are only three detectives and they don't have an office. Chu and Daqing work for Yunlan but their loyalty is to Black Robe who agreed to live here and police his own people who came willingly, or were stranded on this side of the gateway when it closed. The new department was his decision. The story follows the death threats to shut down the department by killing Yunlan or anyone else around him.

Shen Wei is a university lecturer in Architectural Technology and lives with an android he designed as his personal assistant and care taker. He has nightmares almost every night since childhood about his past lives which include Yunlan and he finally gets to meet him and find out that the dreams are real. Some of the events in the dreams are related to parts of 'Love Never Dies' and are seen from different viewpoints. There is, romance, mystery, humour, tears, kidnapping and fun.

After one of his meetings he is arrested as a fraud when a woman is robbed of her savings and he spends the night in a cell. He is released the next morning when his lawyer comes to collect him. From then on, he learns about his destiny but he has kept his health problems a secret which could change everything. Zhao Yunlan doesn't believe in anything that he can't see or touch and it drives a wedge between him and the one he cares for while he learns about Wei's illness.
