But Jake harbors enough regrets from the past to never seek the light Amy has to offer. Amy slowly manages to break through the walls of redemption Jake has created around himself. But she can never change the fact that our mistakes run deep than any other feeling. When shadows of past mistakes start drowning Jake into a dark pit of chaos, Amy might be his one chance to seek light, his silver lining, and love that can heal the ugliest of scars. Great! But who are you to judge? Fair question. This is not to humble-brag, but I've been critiquing and have worked with story development for quite some time, and I've picked up a lot along the way. ☙ - As an Ambassador, I work on content projects. ☙ - If you look at my profile, you'll see everything I've published so far has managed to standout in one way or another, whether by leading me to become a Wattpad Star; or by winning a Watty (twice!); or by being picked as a Top 10 in major Wattpad contests (twice!); or being featured. All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer. This kind of insight can be helpful if you're planning to submit your work or even just want to stand out more here on Wattpad. ☙ - I used to provide critiques for three writers, all of them traditionally published. They seemed to value my insight. Read the RULES, LOGISTICS & PRIZES chapter for guidelines. All entries get a brief assessment of their first chapter, with winners getting more extensive critiques. ❖ Interstellar pilot and ex-adventurer Alex Gallegos must keep their team safe on an icy moon as sentient storms threaten to repeat the tragedy that ended their last career. ❖ Everyone in the United Inhabited Solar Systems (for some reason, UIS for short) knows to stay away from Mahaha. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. "I'm certain you will become a pro hero someday." Hawks opened his eyes and looked up at me, his soft smile making my heartbeat fasten. "You really think so?" I nodded and tucked one strand of his hair behind his ear. I didn't even think about what I was doing. I wasn't scared to embarrass myself anymore. I wasn't even thinking about anything anymore. Nothing surrounding us mattered. My brother could come running towards us standing in flames and I'd still need to be slapped some sense into before I would react. Hawk's smile grew a bit, but stayed soft. "If I become a pro hero, you'll be one too. Let's... be heroes together. Like a duo or something... Like partners. You have crimson hair and I have crimson wings. It would fit so well." I smiled brighter at him. The thought of growing up and becoming heroes with him made me so happy. - But things can change so fast. Someone can become a completely new person in only a few years. Two childhood "friends" meet after many years again and realize that their feelings for each other haven't faded at all. But can a villain and a hero really be together or are they destined to fall apart?
