Before the apocalypse, Hayley had a rough upbringing through childhood and into adulthood. Daryl had a similar life, going through a rough childhood with his brother Merle due to the toxic nature of their father. Daryl, Hayley and Merle were close friends growing up. But one day, circumstances changed, and Hayley was forced to move out of Georgia with her parents, leaving behind her friends, school, and most importantly Daryl. When the apocalypse happened, Daryl was part of a group of survivors who eventually become friends. Hayley on the other hand has been surviving on her own with her niece Emma, that's until she was found by Andrea and Michonne, then later taken with a group of men, and brought to a place called Woodbury, led by a man named the Governor. Hayley initially was hesitant about the place just as Michonne was.
Daryl's group found the prison after walkers overran Hershel's farm. During the first day or two, Lori ended up dying and having her daughter Judith; Maggie and Glenn went into town for supplies for the baby. Hayley and Michonne left Woodbury together, just to be hunted down by Merle, who was ordered by the Governor. You end up getting shot in the thigh, but you two keep going. The two of them enter a town, where Maggie and Glenn are. Merle ends up in the town and takes the two hostage for information about where Merle's brother Daryl is. The two make their way to the prison, carrying the baby formula left behind by Maggie and Glenn. Hayley and Michonne stand in front of the fence with the walkers, the walker blood on their bodies masking their human smell. There's a group of people beyond the fence, that's when Daryl and Hayley's eyes meet and they could hardly believe that they were standing in front of each other. Would this be a possible change for the luck they both have had throughout their lives?

A Glimmer of Hope
***WARNING*** This story is very graphic and only for mature readers. It has a graphic sexual assault as well. You've been warned. Athena was traveling around the country seeing her family after losing her husband in a car accident a year before the fall. She thought that they were perfect for one another and losing him shook her to her core. She was in Georgia when the world started to go to hell. After traveling alone for few months into the apocalypse, she stopped to sleep in the woods when she heard two engines stop late into the night. She went closer to the camp, snapping a twig. Then small whispers. A man with a southern twang (appropriate to the area) spoke in a hushed but urgent tone. Athena just caught the end of what he had been saying: "This isn't a democracy anymore!" Shortly after making her presence known, she gets to know the members of the group she heard whispering little by little, though they are hard to let her in to the group at first. After finally being accepted, she catches the eye of Daryl Dixon, the rugged, silent protector of the group. She is extremely apprehensive to do so after losing her husband only a year ago. But as different as this new world is, as broken and sad, he would want her to find some sort of glimmer of hope. **I do not own the rights to any of The Walking Dead characters.
