in which a cocky tattooist falls for a scarred girl with a tragic past
|THEY SAY 'BURN THE PAST, TURN THE PAGE, MOVE ON. But I don't think I'm ready for that yet, my past shaped me and is still shaping me. If they had have been there that day, been in the same place I was, then I am sure that they too would still be stuck in the past.
The days blur into one another and it just feels like I am constantly reliving that same day on repeat. Imagine having the same repeated reruns of your most hated show on your TV screen, just loops of it and it's never turned off. Yeah, that's how it feels for me.
I wake up, look in the mirror, see her face, talk to customers, hear her voice, come home, go to sleep, nightmare of her, I wake up. And repeat. Like I said, the days blur into another, and nine times out of ten- I can't even remember what day it is.
I can move past that, but not the nightmares that have been visiting me recently. I wake up in agony, feeling the flames licking my skin and I can feel the twitch of my nerves and the constant pounding in my ears. In the last two weeks or so, these nightmares are memories.
Memories that I only see and hear, never feel. I am taken back to that day and if I am being totally honest and insane- I am sick of feeling this pain and instead I am craving a different type of pain.
It's not self inflicted pain I am wanting, no. It's a buzzing pain, something to lull me into relaxation, something so repetitive that it numbs me. That's when I impulsively decided to book myself a tattoo appointment.
I know, so cliche. Roll your eyes at me. But this is the only way for me to feel something other than the unexpected flares running through my entire body.
And here I stand, looking at this gothic font reading 'PINS N NEELDES'. How stereotypical.
