Victoria Clarke is an 18-year-old student at Summerville High. She's not the most popular student, but everyone knows her and her story. Victoria has made a couple of friends in her time at Summerville, and that's totally fine with her. Victoria's BFFs, Julie Adams and Jacklyn Jacobs, have been with her since day one at Summerville. They met during orientation and instantly hit it off. They've been through a lot together, and Victoria loves them to death. Julie is a bit of a wild child, but Victoria wouldn't have it any other way. Jacklyn is the voice of reason in the group, and Victoria often goes to her for advice. Together, the three of them have faced many challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

Serena Camille is a 25-year-old new English teacher at Summerville High. She grew up in a poor neighborhood and was once poor herself. But at age 20, she came into money and became a well-known teacher in the state. Serena has two friends, Veronica and Vanessa. Vanessa is a criminal justice major, and Veronica is a local bartender. The three met by chance and are inseparable.
