She tries to help her get back to her eating and tells her many times that she's "perfectly skinny" but nothing works. By ninth grade, few people remembered the sweet and joyful Ellie from the past. Her hair had grown past her waist and had become wavy, her eyes had lost their luster, and she talked to no one. Without warning, she had been thrown into the life of a lonely sufferer. She isolated herself because she believed that no one else around her would ever understand her misfortune, would ever care about her life or her family's plight.
