King Eärendur of Arnor is growing old. He decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters, Gilraen, Anorwen and Ithiliel. But when Ithiliel refuses to flatter him like her sisters, the King banishes her. After being rejected by Gilraen and Anorwen at their homes, Eärendur falls into madness and wanders the wilds of Arnor. Based on Shakespeare's King Lear, with its themes of family loyalty, authority, madness and reconciliation, The Last King explores how Arnor became divided into three realms, a decision which would lead to its eventual downfall. The King of Mirkwood however isn't so sweet and talkative to her as the Lothlorien elf. Roan wants nothing to do with him, but when she learns about his past, he suddenly doesn't seem so cold...
