Zinnia lives in a work divided between the rich (sevids) and the poor (pauperem).
Once a year, 2,000 of the pauperem's children are fixed- a term used to describe a pauperem turning into a Sevid. The Sevid's adopt Pauper children in a website called "Family.com". On the day of the fixing, these children are forced to move to the Sevids with their new family- never to be seen by a Pauper again.
