Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a rich & charming woman who lives a wealthy life as the heiress daughter of the Dupain-Cheng family in New York, as her family runs a high paying baking business. But her life suddenly goes from riches to rags when she discovers her fiancée & best friend having an affair, her family's business is gone, and she is completely broke. With this, Marinette moves to her hometown in Paris, now living in her dingy studio apartment. Wanting to turn her life around, she decides to get a job at a local soup restaurant, where she happens to come across the gorgeous, sexy, yet grumpy owner Adrien Agreste, who harbors a hatred for the Dupain-Chengs, but after making up a lie about her surname, Marinette is given the opportunity to work.
