On March 16, 2022, Mann took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Even before taking the oath, he took steps to end the VIP culture and met with the Director General of Police to order the withdrawal of police security from former MLAs and ministers.
