Was what Marlene always told herself. But why did she catch herself overthinking when it came to a certain 5 '11 blonde beauty. She never approached Diana because she wasn't interested - is what she told herself. But in reality, she was scared. Scared that she would somehow push the girl away, that she would be disgusted by her. She never truly cared for any of her boyfriends' opinions of her, didn't even mind if they broke up with her, or were away from her. 

But Diana.

The last thing she needed was for Diana to be away from her life. Truthfully, she's made peace with simply watching her from the sidelines, as long as she could keep her eyes in her life. So why was it different now?

She found herself wanting more, craving more.

Marlene was never the type to stay on the sidelines during a party, so she found herself changing her mind. Fuck all of it.

Whether it was the alcohol speaking,

Slowly. Hesitantly. She feels herself pulling closer.

Time seems to halt as her eyes lay upon the dancing blonde. 

Despite the banging music attempting to invade her ears, she could only hear one symphony.

Despite the looming dangers of war, she has a pretty decent life; she has friends who care about her, a boyfriend who loves her, and the determination to keep fighting for a life worth living. But it doesn't take long for Marlene to begin questioning her choices. As the world is falling apart around her, so are her relationships and any certainty that she once had. Except for Sirius; the only certainty she has left in the world. However, war only seems to be threatening to tear them apart. She can't quite put her finger on what has started changing, but something certainly has, and love may not be enough to get her through it this time. It is only a matter of time before Marlene must make the most important choice of all; join the war or fall apart.
