When one of her co-workers on  the True Crime Show she works on is found dead, suspicion falls on DELIA especially when the police realise she has been lying to them about well, everything...her daughter, her husband and the friends she talks about that only seem to exist inside her head. 

Set in Johannesburg, South Africa, The Sick Room is a domestic noir that alternates between past and present. It was inspired by Linda Hazzard https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/doctor-who-starved-her-patients-death-180953158/ together with my experiences as a TV writer. 

The themes in the book are similar to Girl A and Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine. The twists are inspired by books like The Girl On The Train, The Silent Patient, The Rumour and Behind Her Eyes.
