Marie Aleksandr has trained nearly all of her seventeen years in order to score a superior on Chrome Kingdom Academy’s test of elemental aptitude—a test that will define the rest of her life. She can shatter glass without touching it, a feat none of her fellow students have accomplished, but she hasn’t specialized as a Tangible or Intangible, a fact that could fail her.

But just when she’s prepared to give the test her all, a monster collides with her future goals and throws her off course. She must endure training to withstand the often fatal transition into becoming a Dead One, like himself.
