Can STDs be treated? Bacterial STDs can be treated and cured, especially if detected early. However, viral STDs cannot be cured, although hepatitis B and some HPV strains can be prevented with vaccines. With proper treatment and follow-up, symptoms can be managed, and a normal life can be lived. Can STDs be transmitted from mother to baby? STDs can be transmitted from mother to baby during childbirth or breastfeeding. Some STDs, like syphilis, can affect the baby in the womb and cause deformities. However, transmission can often be prevented with diagnosis and treatment.
