With no clear direction, he finds it difficult to find peace on a daily basis, much to the disappointment of Thomas. After being scolded by Thomas, Bartholomew is urged to seek guidance at the church as a last resort. There, he sees a small crowd gathered around the church door and reads the words of Martin Luther, the man who will show him the way.
