Five years at the same school, and she's never met him. Never had a conversation, and barely even looks his away. 

The eccentric girl doesn't have many constants. Scout Iris never thought she would find someone who she could trust and would accept her.

The lonely boy keeps mostly to himself. He's the type that no one understands and he likes it that way. Derek Holden does see one person he'd like to understand him, if he just didn't have to explain.

"But your mine." He pleads. 
"Your place is with me." Continuing to crush my heart. 

"I just can't." I say softly. 
"Thank you for being my Latchboy." I kiss him for what might be the last time. Then try to get in my car. 

"Wait if I said I would marry you right now?" He says placing his hand against the car door. 

"You don't mean it." I can't look at him. 

"But if I did?" He meets my eyes. 

"Derek, please stop. You're just making it harder on both of us." The tears are here. 

"Stay. One more night?" His last attempt.

I nodded and looked up to meet his gaze. It was hard not to get lost in his eyes. Beautiful. "I need space," I began, but I didn't know how to finish, I sighed. "To find myself."
