It is said that when the moon first turned red, the first vampires were born. Many were ecstatic to worship the moon goddess, Luna, while others rejected the blessing. Due to their blasphemy, they were cursed to turn into Hellios - grotesque creatures with no control over their desires. Hundreds of years later, the war rages on. For Avaline Stark, a young human lady, the war has killed her father and ruined her family. As the middle child of five siblings, she strives to ensure her family doesn't end up on the street. A proposal could be the answer to all their problems, but leaving her family with a wealthy husband is the last thing she wants. A chance meeting with Lord Nightingale replaces her worries with a yearning to learn more about him. It's been ten years of war for the young vampire lord, Sebastian Nightingale. On the night of his return, a grand ball is held to welcome him home. Despite the festivities, the plight of soldiers and the screams of men aren't so easily forgotten. The last thing he expected was to be charmed by a human woman. Avaline's boldness and honesty are a breath of fresh air among the slyness and cunningness of vampire high society. As the two spend time together, their attraction grows, but not everyone approves of their budding relationship. It's a well-known fact that a relationship between a vampire and a human can be nothing more than a quick fling; it's not meant for long term. And yet, Ava wants something more, and she's not the only one, for Sebastian is eager to match her step. When dangers at home and abroad threatened to tear them apart, the two must decide if they're willing to risk duty for love.

"You have completely and utterly bewitched me, Lucia. Every time I look at you, I feel practically hypnotized." ☆✰⭐︎ Lucia Winters was raised in a pure-blood family with a storied history, expectations weigh heavily on her. Her father couldn't say no when she was invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a fifth year. She was deeply nervous about stepping into Hogwarts, not that she would ever admit it out loud. Lucia didn't grow up dreaming of the Great Hall, or getting sorted in front of hundreds of staring eyes. But with carefully composed nervousness there was excitement, she was burning with it. Lucia doesn't know yet what is to come, the power she can yield from her fingertips, a person who could guide her magic, or possibly use it. Sebastian Sallow was in his fifth year of Hogwarts. It started with exhaustion. The kind that settles into your bones - the kind that no amount of sleep or sugar quills can fix. Sebastian hid it with his grin, the sarcasm, the easy confidence. But by now, it was habit, not joy. Anne hadn't improved. Solomon barely spoke to him. So he did what he always did, he hid the bleeding parts. But underneath all of it was a hum, a low, constant desperation. He started digging into older magic, darker spells, things the books said he shouldn't touch. He touched them anyway. Sebastian was not going to sit back and watch his sister wither when he knew there were answers? No. There had to be answers, something, or someone, will show him. ☆✰⭐︎ A collision of two desperate souls, one already falling, the other just stepping into the dark. He needs her - not just because of her magic. She needs him - not just because he sees her clearly. Two people keeping secrets, both too clever for their own good, both drawn to eachother like gravity. Somewhere in their desperation, ambition, and obsession with saving Anne, it started to look like more than a friendship.
