Liv Sterling is sick of just about everything. After returning from a two month long math camp in the mountains, her regular church kid life seems completely different, and the differences are only just beginning. Her best friend, Devon, starts to disappear when they're supposed to hang out, an odd boy named Henry's moved in over the summer, and her conservative family seems more constricting than ever. When Devon urges her to join the science team, everything changes. Suddenly, her father's anti-evolution campaigns seem outrageous, she's making friends with the class clown and a slightly insane artist, and the team is fighting against the one person Liv can't face: her father. As the misfits try to tear down social boundaries and stereotypes, the church starts to close in on a science teacher at Liv's school after teaching evolution in class - not required in the curriculum. With interpretive dancing at Homecoming, struggles to make beliefs concrete, late night milkshake runs, and what could be a first love, Liv goes all in to the Misfit Rebellion. (Please note that if this book seems offensive in any light, I did not intend it to be. I am Christian myself, so keep that in mind.)

(GirlxGirl) "'You're so pretty, Casey.' Her hand stops moving along my arm, and I raise my gaze to meet hers. Her eyes are darker than usual, and her expression is intense. The dim lamp lighting illuminates the structure of her face, making her look even more intimidating than she already is. 'What?' I breathe. 'I really like you.'" ----- Casey Winters is the star of the soccer team at her school. She's a gifted player, and her talents have led her team to championships. Her one weakness? School. Casey manages to get by in her other subjects with the help of her friends and online videos, but math is a struggle, and she has given up. But when Hazel offers to tutor her, everything changes.
