This story is about a girl named Monie Johnson. Monie is 22 years old. She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland with her mother and her two siblings.
Her brother, Malik, is 24 years old and her sister, London, is 16.
Monie's father died of cancer when she was 12. Her father was Marvin Johnson. Marvin was one of the best and well known police officers in Baltimore. Everyone was cool with him even though he was a cop.
After Monie graduated from Maryland School of Arts she decided she wanted to leave Baltimore. So Monie moved to New York to go to school and work more on her dancing career. She knew her family wouldn't be happy about her decision but she had to follow her dreams.
