"You boys must be hungry," Samantha said, looking over her shoulder.
"I'm not that hungry, mom," Ethan said, leaning against the island.
"I know you're not," she waved off then looked at me. "I was asking your boyfriend."
I chuckled but shook my head. "I'm not that hungry either," I said.
"You two are perfect for each other," she chuckled. "I would love to catch up some more but I have a really important call to take."
"No worries," Ethan said under his breath.
"Make yourself at home," she called out as she made her way out of the kitchen then answered the call.
"My mom," Ethan started, then I looked at him. "Always working." He paused, then looked at me. "Just like my dad."
I could tell that he was hurting but I didn't want to say anything. Especially the words, "I'm sorry," since I had nothing to apologize for. I grabbed his hand then slowly grinned while I looked at him.
"Want to show me where we'll be sleeping?" I asked and that was just enough for him to grin as well.
"You mean where we'll be trying to sleep," he chuckled but I playfully rolled my eyes. "Follow me."
