"Do you love Topper?" I asked Sarah, referring to my brother.
"No... do you... love Rafe?" Sarah asked me. "I mean, you totally have a thing with JJ going on."
"A Pogue can't love a Kook. So what's the point trying with JJ?" I asked.
Skyelar Thornton, Topper's twin sister. Her brother hates that she's friends with the Pogues, and he tries to convince her to start dating Rafe "Coke-head" Cameron. As if. She's best friends with Sarah and Kie, and pretty close with the Pogues. But as her and JJ's lifelong friendship starts becoming more, the easier it is to abandon her brother and his Kookness in favor of the Pogues and her love life.
But sometimes, all you need is family.

A little about the main character: The book is about a 17 year old girl who just moved back to Outer Banks. She lived here before but because of her father who just got a job offer they had to move to New York. She has a big brother Jacob who's already in college in NY and a younger brother Timothy who is 5 years old. She comes from a very rich family. She's tall with blond hair, always dressed nicely with pretty makeup, perfectly blown out hair and long nails. She has the "clean girl" aesthetic. She always took her presence very seriously. Rafe was kook king that was kicked out of his fathers home. Rafe looked for help in his best friend Jayde. Jayde took Rafe in and is trying her best to help him out. In the beginning of the book the pogues seem to be an alley before Rafe and Jayde figure out they're secret. Soon enough Rafe and Jayde plan theyre revenge on the pogues for betraying them with the help of Rafes kook friends. Rafe begins to fall more and more in love with his best friend, Jayde. Jayde and Rafe learn that the don't need the pogues or the kooks since they have each other. Holland and John B have had very flirty moments (mainly just hitting on one another and kissing) In this story Holland develops her relationship with him. Holland and John B have always been close. She has always been there for him. Kie and Holland have been friends since prek they're practically sisters. Kie introduced her to the pogues in kindergarten. Pope and Holland are close they always vent to one another when they need. JJ is a lose cannon none the less he and Holland always look out for one another, just like he does the others. The pogues were set on having the best summer possible before school starts back, however that quickly changed when a hurricane hit outer banks and lead them on a wild adventure to find treasure. ***Story was rewritten.
