Starscream had begun to understand over time that there were things he used to believe, to represent. He was Second In Command to the Decepticons and with Megatron's increasingly concerning behavior with Dark Energon. He's not sure if he wants to stay.

When his Trine gives him a way out, he's remains undecided until Megatron destroys what little trust he had in the leader and Starscream follows behind his brothers straight to the Autobots.

With the decline in his health, he's unsure if he can handle becoming an Autobot, or let alone handle the truth he's been hiding or the past friends he has to face.

Nothing can prepare him though for the sudden life he created, unaware and the reason for his decline. Now with a sparkling in the mix, he has never felt so unsure about his future than he did now.

 

TL;DR - Starscream ends up leaving the Decepticons with his brothers only to end up in Autobot care when his health suddenly declines. When he learns it's because of an unplanned sparkling. He begins to spiral.

But that does not stop his war against the autobots. Which Optimus, unfortunately, would come to learn. But it is not just Megatron who seeks out this sparkling. Eyes linger on the autobot leader after his assistance with aiding a decepticon, and their keen interest in the sparkling leads to danger to both Optimus and his sparkling. To the point where her life literally hangs by a thread again. And, someone beneath the surface of the planet, plans vengeance against those who banished him. Including against a young dragon who is only related by energon.

As the two of them work together, they both face their weaknesses and the many trials thrown at them by an interdimensional threat and some domestic ones. Optimus has a harsh life as the bearer of the matrix and Temptest struggles to be the symbol of freedom she once was. Alongside them, one Megatron works to protect his adopted family while the other tags along, fighting and testing them in hopes he'll find what he lost in his own dimension. The bots imagine that a terrible villain is on the prowl, but struggle to figure out who.
