"I've always wondered what stars look like up close, Auden. Do you think they still look as pretty?" I ask him.

"Well no because stars are basically just huge rocks on fire." He states.

"Why do you think God created stars?" I further question.

"I believe God made stars so that when it's dark and when we feel like we are lost in this trash bag of a world, we can look up at the sky and when we see those diamonds we call stars glittering in the dark, we realise that the sun comes up every morning obliterating them, and yet every night they rise again from the ashes to shine for us because if there were no stars there'd be no hope. So in a way we can say their God's way of saying everything's going to be okay, just look at the stars and they will guide you back home- why do you think before compasses were invented, sailors use to use stars to find their way around? " he smiles at me.

Even after Auden is fast asleep, I am still frozen in awe of what he said.
